Control Your Stuff - Managing Online Logins for Business Owners
An open letter to business owners:
Have yer friggin logins and make sure you have control over them people!
This statement has been made dozens of times in a customer transition period, "Email my marketing company. They have all of that."
Omg [facepalm].
You are telling me that you've given exclusive keys to the car to someone else. They have control over how you can get in and change stuff on your website.
Now, let's be honest, most people will do the right thing. They will be gracious. They'll hand everything over willingly.
BUT, what if they lose it a little bit, and they don't. Why would you ever put yourself in that position?
It’s like saying oh no, I don’t have access to my accounting software. My accountant/bookkeeper does that. (Wait omg you don’t do that do you??????!!!!!?????)
Below is a running list of our login round up checklist. These are the things we are asking for prior to or at the beginning of an engagement. It's not totally comprehensive, but it's a start.
Could you gather these up in 10-15 minutes? Are they in a place or places that at least 2 people know of?
