The Deep Dive Video

And when you’re ready for it, open this longer, 25 minute version in YouTube and watch it on a big screen (or a small screen, your call).

Why make a 25 minute video? Because the topic needs it, and honestly, this is as short as I could make it to tell the story right!

Plus, we watched 10 hours of Tiger King. Certainly, we can watch one video that explains a possible future of money.

The Bitcoin Explainer Video (25 minutes). I recommend opening it in YouTube and watching on a TV.

Why produce these

I produced these videos because I felt called to do it, I love doing explainer videos and I wanted to create a resource to answer the questions that I had in my bitcoin discovery process that I never really found all in one place. And as I started writing the initial script, I realized that I had heard this argument structured this way before and it was from a video that Pomp (Anthony Pompliano) did in December 2021. I have adapted his and the Pomp Crypto Course presentation into an animated video.

Also we wanna do more videos like this, so if there’s any bitcoiners reading/watching, hmu 🤙🏻.

I don’t want you to walk away from this saying, oh I should definitely buy bitcoin. What I do want is for you to feel like you have a good foundational knowledge base of what it is and why I think we need bitcoin.

I hope this is the start of your research process. In my opinion, if you buy some thinking, oh okay, sure I’ll get some and see, I think it’ll be speculative and you’ll end up selling it after a short term (and probably at the exact wrong time).

What my hope for this is that you say ok, I’m going to do my own research and see what this is really all about.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

How is Bitcoin different from Ethereum or Crypto?

Bitcoin is crypto but not all crypto is bitcoin. Crypto refers to the use of cryptography, like the use of the SHA-256 algorithm to encrypt information. (The same algorithm that encrypts email and websites. But other crypto like Ethereum, Solana and all the other coins out there are not trying to do the same thing that bitcoin is trying to do.

Bitcoin is simply trying to be decentralized digital currency. Almost everyone else is trying to be Amazon Web services, they are trying to be virtual decentralized computer systems that enable smart contracts and other things. They are not the same. In my opinion bitcoin is far more decentralized and focused than the other projects out there.

Should I buy bitcoin?

I don’t know. This is obviously not financial advice. I am not a financial advisor. These are my opinions and information that I’ve collected in the past or adapted from other sources. And bitcoin has been really volatile. So honestly if you don’t have a very, very deep conviction in it, you should absolutely stay away from it until you get comfortable with the volatility or conviction in the asset. What I have seen in my short time is that short term holders of bitcoin tend to buy at the wrong time and sell at the wrong time. The people or groups that are long-term holders have done the best. But it takes deep conviction to hold something after it’s dropped in price over 50%.

How do I buy a bitcoin?

Well you don’t have to buy a whole bitcoin (Watch the videos to the end!). You can buy fractions of a bitcoin, it’s one of the beautiful mechanisms of the system. Personally, I like River, Strike and Cash App for smaller purchases, and I like River for large purchases. And I hear good things about Unchained for both. When you are buying bitcoin, that’s what’s called buying through an exchange. This is where the do your own research (DYOR) part comes in …

How do I keep the bitcoin? Do I need to get like a hard drive thing?

You can buy it and choose to keep it on the exchange that you buy it on. However, in that case, the exchange retains custody of the bitcoin. What I would recommend you do is then transfer it to a wallet, so you then have custody of the bitcoin.

Software wallet examples (hot wallets) - (At the moment, I like these, but again, DYOR.) - Blue Wallet, Muun wallet, Sparrow …

Hardware wallet example (cold storage) - ColdCard
